We all like to think about the old days.
For different people, these old days are from different times. Almost by necessity, given that different people were born at different times. Yet we all think about going back to a time when we feel like things were better for us. More often than not, these are our younger years when we're growing up. Being young means that so much is ahead of you and you have so much potential. Some people have more success than others when they're young. Unfortunately, that success doesn't always last. Eventually the thing we enjoyed success in at an early age will end up burning out and no longer being available to us later on. Because of this we can look back on these times with happiness and nostalgia for what used to be.
What's worse is that the decisions that you make when you're young don't always put you in the best place after you grow up. Largely as a result of the fact that when things are glorious, you think they'll last forever so you don't plan for the future. In looking back, we realize the mistakes we made and how they've affected us. Part of you can't help but want the feelings you used to have back if you can manage it. If you're lucky, you might actually be able to do it. Although it usually requires other people to have as many fond memories as you. Or to appeal to a new generation of people who can give you that. Something which is so much harder because the world has probably changed since you were young.
So you have to find a way to balance giving your long time fans what you gave them when you're young. While at the same time doing something new and different with it that will appeal to a whole new group of people. Otherwise you'll just end up in the same place that you were before. Maybe you will get some of what you wanted back but ultimately it will come to an end and not last a long time. This means you can only get it back for so long. As a result, you are forced to appreciate what you have while you have it and plan for a future when you don't have it.
Girls5Eva is very much about trying to recapture your old glory. Dawn, as played fantastically by Sara Bareilles, used to be part of a very popular girl group. Along with her fellow singers Summer, Gloria, Ashley and Wickie, as played brilliantly by Busy Philipps, Paula Pell, Ashley Park, and Renee Elise Goldsberry, they were one of the biggest musical groups in the world. Yet like so many things, the success they had didn't last. But thanks to a twist of fate, they have an opportunity to find some of the glory they used to have when they were younger. But the experience they had changed them and shaped them in so many ways. It gave them a way to think about that time.
So when they get this opportunity, they don't want to make the same mistakes. They don't want to be controlled by a sketchy manager and they want their message to be better. But will they be able to find it and feel as good as they used to be?
Do yourself a favour and explore recapturing the glory of your youth by checking out Girls5Eva as soon as you can.
