Some plans just shouldn't work out.
A bad plan will blow up on its own because it's poorly planned and poorly executed. Then there are the plans which are well planned but still blow up because of bad execution. However, there are also plans which should blow up but won't. Plans like things designed to hurt people. As a general rule, it would be better if plans to hurt people blew up and no one ended up being harmed. Of course, many plans like that actually involve literally blowing things up and so often it's easier to do a plan like that because no one is expecting such a plan. Most people assume that things won't blow up and that other people don't want to blow things up either. So the natural assumption of people is that plans involving blowing people up don't actually work out.
Unfortunately, there are people who like the idea of blowing things up, and blowing people up in particular. For them, the hope is to blow up someone important or enough people to really have an impact, both literally and figuratively. The kind of destruction which people will have to notice and might even cause them to notice that something is wrong. When such people try to do things like that, it's important to have people in place who will blow up a plan like that. Destroy the ability of whoever's doing it to actually execute it and the people who want to hurt you. Getting someone to do that requires a lot of time and energy into training for situations like that. They have to be at least as smart and as capable as the people doing the planning in order to blow the plan up. Very few people would actually willingly show up to get a job like that.
The reason being is that people who want to blow things up, probably don't have a problem with the idea of blowing you up in the process. It's their whole thing, so it's hard to say why they wouldn't just go ahead and do that. So you have to be willing to really put yourself on the line and risk the possibility of blowing up in order to stop it from happening. Signing up for a life like that means you could die at any moment. So of course you're going to want to live your life to the fullest. After all, your life could blow up at any moment. Building things like personal lives and functional relationships doesn't necessarily work well with a life like that.
Obliterated is fundamentally about what it's like to try and blow up other people's plans. Ava Winters, as played brilliantly by Shelley Hennig, is an expert at blowing up the plans of bad people. Being a CIA agent, she's trained her whole life to try and stop people from doing terrible things like cause explosions. To the point that she's leading missions about that very thing. Along with her team, they do everything they can to create problems for criminals and terrorists who want to blow things up for all kinds of reasons. Most of them not good reasons.
It's a fascinating process and you should do yourself a favour and check out Obliterated as soon as you can.
You can watch Obliterated on Netflix.
