I'm coming up on the 2 year anniversary of the first post I made on Substack and thinking about how to celebrate. One of the thoughts that I've had is about gifting some paid subscriptions to people. A while ago I thought about something similar and wasn't sure how to do it. However, now I'm thinking it should be a celebration of sorts. There are a few ways to do it. One is based on how long people have been a subscriber, but the other is based on how much of a supporter they are.
Gift Subscriptions:
Many of you have been regular readers and it's been a lot of fun. I might do something of a tiered system. I can give people different lengths of a comp subscription. More than likely, those of you who have been the biggest supporters will get the longest, going down the list and giving shorter gift subscriptions based on that.

I would also post some of the exclusive stuff I’ve been holding back.
Does anyone have another way they think might work? Would anyone object to getting a complimentary paid subscription?
Most likely it will happen on the 2 year anniversary in mid February. My first new post was late February 2021.
Debate:
The debate format for this space is something that I've mostly worked out and will also happen this month. Looking forward to seeing how things go. Essentially, after the topic header lays out the debate, there will be a short statement in favor of the statement and one against. Each statement will have links to articles I've written in the past in this space which I think supports both positions. Then people can feel free to discuss the issue.
Given the way that many debates tend to go, I might restrict comments to paid subscribers. A poll will be available to everyone to vote on for or against the statement. But to really dig into the issues, you’ll have to be a paid subscriber. Though many of you will have a gift subscription when it launches.
Comic Book:
Additionally, I've been figuring out how to launch the comic book. Part of the issue is that I wanted to launch a website with it but that might not be something I can do financially. What I am working through is how to create a custom domain on Substack. I've heard conflicting reports on what it would cost in terms of hosting. Trying to work that out. My hope is that I'll be able to launch it some time this month. I might not wait until I figure it out and just launch. Most likely I will cross post the announcement of its launch here.
For my newer subscribers, here’s my separate Substack for the comic book:
As for the CoVid book, that will likely happen this month. Right now it's just a question of how much of the book I should have available for anyone currently on the list. I'm also working through who else I should put on the list. I have considered the idea of posting the introduction/first chapter here so that people can get a sense of it.
How would you feel about that?
Again for my newer subscribers, I’ve mentioned the book here and here.
That's what I have so far. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.
It's your show, I say do what you want :-) Congratulations on your (almost) 2 year anniversary and best of luck with your new projects!
