Andrew, you’ve really highlighted some intriguing points about the complexities of revenge and its impacts, both negative and positive. I feel it’s fascinating how, in some cases, the pursuit of revenge can bring a sense of purpose and even lead to unexpected opportunities, as you’ve described.

“The Mentalist” does an excellent job illustrating this dynamic, with Patrick Jane’s quest blending the lines between personal vendetta and justice.

Now I find that it makes one think about the deeper motivations behind our actions. Have you noticed any other shows or books that explore revenge in a similarly complex way?

btw, good work!

I mean, I have covered a few of them and even linked to some in the above post. There’s a movie called “Do Revenge” which is obviously about revenge and the motivations behind it.

Another show that I covered isn’t technically about revenge but has elements to it. The show is called Insatiable and it ran for 2 seasons. The main character used to be ridiculed for her weight and when she gets thin, she wants to prove herself to those who used to be mean to her.

There’s also Pretty Little Liars and One of Us is Lying. Both shows involve characters who are torturing the main characters for previous decisions. They’re based on book series.

However, I think The Mentalist is one of the best.
