Congratulations on meeting your goal! I agree that the debates sound interesting. I'm also not a fan of the chat feature (or the app) and would prefer to use discussion threads and comments. That seems to be working well enough. So sorry about your brush with cancellation. Punishing people for ideological nonconformity is the ethical cancer of our age.

Thanks, feeling good about that. Good to know about the discussion threads and comments. I wouldn't say that it's a brush with cancellation. It just wasn't a widespread kind that gets reported by news organizations. I'm not interesting enough. Though it's part of why I'm here on Substack.

The debate idea sounds interesting. Are you thinking of doing it as a podcast? I'm sorry to hear that you've been canceled and that it has caused you troubles. I'd rather use the comments sections for discussion rather than Substack's "chat" feature.

Thanks. I'm more likely to put it out the debate as a similar idea for what I've done. For instance, I would put forward the statement "Murder is Always Wrong" then I will suggest the two options available and some of my own writing. Like my piece about Dexter and the value of a human life, and The Crow and Vengeance, etc.

Potential reasons where it could be morally acceptable to murder someone. Also potentially arguments in favour of not doing so. Then subscribers can discuss the various arguments in favour or against these ideas.
